The Big Boat

I was born in a place relatively far from the sea. Relatively I say, because I’ m Dutch so, to American standards, how far from the coast could that possibly be.....LOL Anyway, we’re not used to long travel distances (I can hear Seppe roaring with laughter...), so, well...eh....let’s just say it’ s different for us Dutch. We are weird that way.

Anyway, in my childhood, the sea, the beach and boats always held some sort of fascination for me. But there always was a sense of awe as well; my folks weren’t very well off moneywise and the kind of  boats I liked were definitely items from the world of the Rich and possibly Famous. Rendering them alien almost....

So when I was on the gorgeous Italian island of Agrippa with Seppe last Sunday, I spotted this sweet sailing yaught. I wanted to get on board, but on the other hand, the old sense of it being unreachable for me, not right for me ot whatever, held me back somehow. Seppe, sharp and sensitive as he always is, got that right away and he urged me on........lol. When that didn’ t do the job he grabbed his guitar – he’s always carrying that old raggedy thing around – and started singing for me.....

Now, I’ m not leaving...hahahaha!!!! not for all the gold in China or anywhere else...

But it got me on the yaught. He joined me – just made it at the very last second – and we sailed out into the sunset and had a won-der-ful time together.

Have we made any snapshots? Eh.....yah, we have...........Not going to put them up here though.........LOL

Isn’ t it creepy how RL creeps into SL with us sometimes, in the form of our moods, anxieties, fears or dreams.... Obvious and inevitable, I know, but still.........

I was pondering on this just the other day, when I found myself in the beautiful Bamboo Gardens of China. Beautiful, but very eerie as well. My mood gloomy and down, I felt a little worried with RL issues of a definite nightmarish nature. How appropriate this place seemed......with this mysterious, Dark and overwhelming force of light, wind and energy pushing me on and on, so powerful I could lean into it.It rendered me feeling utterly helpless and insignificant.

How vulnerable are we! Not at all in what we own but the more so in what we love and cherish. I felt eyes and throat filling up as I remembered the words of Edgar Allen Poe. How he described our hopeless inabillity to grasp and hold on to all and everything we keep close to our heart. No matter how fiercely we clench our fist, it all eludes us like grains of sand slipping through our failing fingers.

It happens to all of us, we all know and hate it: RL interfering with our SL. This time it happened to me, so it has been a while since my last blog.

Finally this weekend, I found the time and the right frame of mind to go out shopping and come up with a blogpost. First time in weeks......

The weather was great, the sun was out and everything blooming and flowering filled the air with that special smell of summer. What an atmosphere to pack a big bag with Lindens and a good mood and head out for a merciless spree, with no intention at all to take any prisoners whatsoever... OMG, how I love this !!

I was surprised by the amount of new shops of all kinds that have emerged lately. I had my wicked way with a whole score of them; I’d been saving notecards from shops I knew I just had to visit.

At the . L I M I T E D . B A Z A A R . I found this colourful, summery FLORA outfit by GIZZA.

Scrounging around at L’ASSESSOIRES I came across this fab KUNGLERS jewellery.

The DONNA’s I rustled up at REDGRAVES’ shoe department. These offer lots of colour options, so adapting them to my outfit was real easy. Great stuff.

I found this gorgeous giant pergola and thought it would make a wonderful summery backdrop for a couple of pictures.

I don’t usually engage in goodie hunts, they’re just not my thing. But earlier this week, when shopping at Gizza’s, I ran into this surprise; this really gorgeous gown in my absolute fave colour! I was sure that my closet holds enough half forgotten stuff to style it all up with. So I went for it and hunted it down.

I tackled the jewellery first and in my vast jewelbox I came across this old group gift from Finesmith.....Waaaay too nice to be lying there in hiding, unused!

My humongous shoe rack offered Redgrave’s Cathy. Just what I was looking for and in addition I could match the colour beautifully with the dress.

Nails cleverly done in Finesmith’s Lilac and I topped it all up with the Cohimbra HP hair by Vanity. Et voilà, there we have her; set to go for yet another great party.

Today I found myself in a strange mood of extravagance..... I went out nosing around and I bumped into:

For me, it strongly conjures up images of Piet Mondriaan’s brilliant play with lines and planes. I decided to style it with some gorgeous jewellery by Shi. It was – no surprise there - in Seraph City that we found this wonderful room with its checkered floor that so beautifully adds to the outfit’s design, to use as a backdrop.

We were in Seraph City, Seppe and me. Another great sim to shoot photographs. Seppe loves to take snapshots and he’s getting so good at it! What’s more: he’s so affordable too. All it takes is a couple of sloppy kisses and off he goes.....LOL! Anyway, we had us a great time in Seraph City; lots of stuff to see and do, all in an atmosphere and scenery of Dieselpunk, Art Deco and Prohibition. We love it.

Seppe calls me  “Missy Longlegs” every time I’m wearing it. He always gets a little restless….I wonder why that is.  Maybe the enticing amount of detail the semi sheer top provides. Soooooo…when you’re in a mood to get your guy going, this might be the way to go.
